Join us for an evening of conversation, reflection, and community.
Award-winning author Rev. Maggie Helwig will read from her acclaimed book, Encampment: Resistance, Grace, and an Unhoused Community, followed by a moderated conversation with Luisa D'Amato.
Together, they'll explore the realities of homelessness, the experiences of unhoused communities, and the importance of compassion, dignity, and community response.
Drawing on her years of walking alongside people living in encampments, Rev. Helwig will share stories of resilience, hope, and humanity while inviting us to consider how we respond to our neighbours experiencing homelessness.
Whether you're interested in housing justice, faith, community, or simply want to better understand one of today's most pressing social issues, this evening offers an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
About Rev. Maggie Helwig
Rev. Maggie Helwig is an award-winning author, Anglican priest, and the rector of
St. Stephen-in-the-Fields in Toronto's Kensington Market.
Her book, Encampment: Resistance, Grace, and an Unhoused Community, offers a powerful firsthand account of life alongside an encampment community and invites readers to rethink how we respond to homelessness with compassion, justice, and hope.
